Why a design/build format?
A successful landscape needs two major components: good design & qualified craftsman to install it. When John Hollowell & Associates was first established in Ann Arbor, we were strictly a landscape architect firm, providing only design services. Frustration with poorly built designs led us to be contractors in a design/build format.

Advantages of our design/build format include:
● We understand how things are built. Our landscape design goal is a natural appearance, but also considers cost, lasting quality, and alternative materials/solutions. ● Our design staff work hand-in-hand with our construction crew adjusting the scale and arranging the plants. Having qualified craftsman allows us freedom to design custom creations. ● We have an extensive collection of tools and construction equipment. Building our own garden designs ensures that the site looks like the plan.
